The Rhodes scholarship is an international postgraduate award at the University of Oxford for study and it is named after Cecil Rhodes. It is believed the world most prestigious scholarship by sources such as Yale University Press, The McGill Reporter and Associated Press which claim it to be the first large-scale programme of international scholarships.
Rhodes Scholars can study full-time postgraduate course whether it is taught as Master’s programme, a research degree, or a second undergraduate degree. First the scholarship will be given for two years but it may be given for one year or three years. The decision for third year is taken during the course of the second year.
Rhodes Scholars College and university fees will be paid by the Rhodes Trust. They also pay for boarding and lodging. While at Oxford all scholars affiliated with a residential college can enjoy the Rhodes House rooms, gardens, a library, study areas and other facilities. |
